PenTips #179 – Restrictive Recalls

Restricted Recall option

Added option to suppress non-applicable recall interval selectors. It uses a combination of recall interval patterns based on imaging exam type (screening or diagnostic) and Birads, a recall interval pattern for procedures, and recall pattern for combination of exams types. PenRad has a series of imaging exam modifiers to indicate if the exam is screening or diagnostic, for separation of statistics.

Imaging exam modifiers:
Modifiers Screening and Asymptomatic Diagnostic for mammograms are classified as “screening”.
Modifiers Diagnostic, Problem Solving and Comparison for mammograms are classified as “diagnostic”.
Modifier “Screening MRI” classifies MRI as “screening”, without as “diagnostic”.
Modifier “Screening US” classifies ultrasound exam as “screening”, without as “diagnostic”.
Modifier “Screening” for Scintimammogram classifies exam as “screening”, without as “diagnostic”.

Recall pattern for imaging exam type, procedures, and combination of imaging and or procedures:
Screening imaging exam report uses screening recall pattern based on Birads.
Report combination of screening exams uses screening recall pattern based on Birads.
Diagnostic imaging exam report uses diagnostic recall pattern based on Birads.
Report combination of diagnostic exams uses diagnostic recall pattern based on Birads.
Report combination with screening and diagnostic imaging exams uses diagnostic recall pattern.
Procedure exam report uses the procedure recall pattern.
Report combination of procedures without Birads coded imaging uses the procedure recall pattern.
Report combination with screening imaging & procedure(s) uses screening recall pattern based on Birads.
Report combination with diagnostic imaging & procedure(s) uses diagnostic recall pattern based on Birads.
Report combination with screen & diagnostic & procedure(s) uses diagnostic recall pattern based on Birads.

Screening recall interval pattern below, patient exam letters exposed by assigned Birads code:
Birads 1 / 2 exposes; return to screening and 1 year screening recall only.
Birads 3 exposes; 1 through 12 month follow-up only.
Birads 4 / 4a / 4b / 4c / 5 / 6 / marker exposes; immediate recall only.

Diagnostic recall interval pattern below, patient exam letters exposed by assigned Birads code:
Birads 1 / 2 exposes; return to screening and 12 month follow-up only.
Birads 3 exposes; 1 through 12 month follow-up only.
Birads 4 / 4a / 4b / 4c / 5 / 6 / marker exposes; immediate recall only.

Procedure recall interval pattern below, patient procedure exam letters exposed:
For biopsy exams; Immediate recall, 3 mfu, 6 mfu, 12 mfu only. US, MRI, Stereo, Scinti, Skin punch
All other exam types; Immediate recall, and 12 mfu only.

Bone density exam has its own recall pattern consisting of recall intervals: 1 yr, 2 yr, 6 mfu, and none.
